For the past few weeks, I have been in the state of ‘Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind’. Blank mind during work meeting, idle body during sporting, easily satisfied appetite during meals, and easy snoozes with undecipherable dreams, neither sweet nor nightmare.

Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind. How I long to be in this state. It is a name of a movie really, which I watched few years back.

All of a sudden, last Tuesday, grabbing a free newspaper from LRT station and glancing through the headline, I immediately came to my full sanity and realised that life is not forever a state of ‘Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind’.

The headline reads ‘UiTM students demonstrating against Khalid’

The rootcause of the demonstration: Khalid’s remark on the possibility of 10% non-bumi admission quota to UiTM.

Well, as al-Quran says humankind is forgetful, similarly che’ det once said, ‘Malays indeed really are forgetful~Melayu sememangnya mudah lupa’.

By nature, I am not inherently a racist person. Though identified as a Malay in my IC, I don’t really subscribe to the shallow race survivorship ideology adopted by some parties in Barisan Nasional, especially the juak-juak UMNO. Their excessive assabiyyah and the shallowness of their thought clearly displayed the disgrace that they dismayed the nation with.

And these UiTM students, with sebungkus nasi, teh o ais and armed with a sediciously written placard sponsored by one  of the juak UMNO students coalition organisation, paraded in their campus as to demonstrate their anguish against Khalid’s proposal.

This 10% non-bumi quota is not new.

Leaders of juak-juak UMNO had already given up so many X-percent-non-bumi-admission-quotas to other races for the past few years my dear friends, so to let you know if you are not aware.

MRSM 10% admission quota, PSD scholarship 40% quota with the same number of total allocation, closure of an MRSM in one state due to the state changing hand to the opposition power etc etc.

And again, to reiterate, this X-percent-quota is not new.

So the reasons for the demonstration are not so much on the race survivorship really.

I can still remember the moment when one of the juak UMNO leaders, Nazri Aziz whose responsibility is to look after MARA declared the  10% non-bumi admission quota to MRSM in parliament. Nobody from UMNO MPs opposed it. The juak UMNO students coalition organisation which sponsored the latest UiTM demo did not say anything during that time.

I can also remember the moment when the same Nazri Aziz declared the 40% quota to non-bumi for PSD scholarship in parliament. Believe me, nobody from UMNO MPs stand up and oppose it. And the juak UMNO students coalition also did say nothing.

I can also remember when the fuel subsidy restructuring was tabled at parliament. The opposition fight to their death as to disallow the enactment of the restructuring which will ultimately hurt people. And the juak-juak UMNO MPs, given their slight majority in the parliament, bersorak sorai when they won that subsidy restructuring motion. And again, the juak UMNO students coalition mendiam seribu bahasa lest the government would drop them from university.

Again, it is not really about race survivorship. If I am one of the students who demonstrated last weekend, I would feel pity to myself, as to be used by juak-juak UMNO. Students movement ideally should move the nation progressively, to the extent of revolutionising the nation to a better state as what we saw in Indonesia, Philipines, Germany, UK and Iran. But pity, in Malaysia, the students’s balls are squeezed so hard by AUKU, resulting in ED and severe impotent, which both are beyond redemption.

Again and again, the question here is not really about race survivorship. It is a question of who projected the idea of X-percent-non-bumi-admission-quota.

In their shallowness of mind and thought, it would be race survivorship if juak-juak UMNO that intitiate it, but for Pakatan Rakyat to start the ball rolling,it will be taken as a race betrayal.

Shame on you juak-juak UMNO and their racist students coalition organisations. To quote Anep, crooks beget crooks, hence we see these uncivilised spoilt brat demonstrators.
