Egypt is great.

What made me feel sad and shame at the same time is not about the inferiority of the car, but the attitude of some people of Malaysia who believe they are doing something great, but in fact it is not even on par, leave alone above it.

We believe that by making the longest national flag, heaviest cake resembling national flag, the longest meehoon, the tallest building, and the first Malaysia women/men to arrive at moon and poles we can be a great nation. But from my personal opinion, those things in fact add nothing to the nations value.

I can still remember when a man from our beloved country crossed the English channel. With like more than 20 crews, a ship to carry a cage for him to swim in it to prevent him from being stung by jellyfish, he managed to cross it. Congratulation. Heavily publicised, almost everybody from our country feels good about it. However almost a month after that, a dear colleague of mine from Malaysia who studied in UK also manage to cross it, without any sponsorship, heavy publicity and moral support from leaders. Enough said about this, I don’t have to tell the moral of the story, as you can figure it out yourself.

Back to the issue of the car making industry in our country, as a strong believer of free market and capitalism, I believe that inevitably a country need to entrench itself in industrialisation as it will increase employment opportunity and gross national output. Regardless from where the investments come from, in short term industrialisation does give impact on all developing countries, without excluding the countries which are already bestowed upon it with an enormous oil reserves by God. It does not matter who owned the firm or factory, as long as it does give employment opportunities and encourages technology development and diffusion which will shift the long run production possibility frontier of the country out in order to sustain the nations long term growth.

Why do we have to be so obsessed and excited with having nations brands, when some of the brands are not so great? How come nationalist people can say that their national product is great when in fact it is proven that the product is kind a substandard? Better believe me my friends on this statement, otherwise please watch the top video on the right.

I cannot believe how these people think. Sometimes I do think, do we really need GLC at all. Looking at the empirical result, with the exception of natural monopolistic industries, more than half of the GLCs are not performing so well.

The decision to let VW own 51% of Proton is fine by me, and board of directors have my full blessing…huhu.

p/s this articles is just a humble personal point of view of mine, based on my little knowledge, without any affiliation to any entities. I must admit however that this explanation is short, but to make full economics and econometrics analysis about it in this blog seems to be making it heavy and acquire further and more detailed researches and studies.

Baru balik dari Turkey, rasanya macam taknak balik sebenarnya.

Keluar-keluar stesen bas Bristol sekembalinya dari Turkey, bukan setakat sampah sarap bertaburan, bahkan tahi anjing pon bersepah-sepah. Pening..pening.

Exam pulak menanti lagi 38 hari, pening-pening.

"Apabila harta rampasan perang (milik negara) dikuasai segelintir orang sahaja,

barang amanah menjadi rampasan,

harta zakat menjadi hutang,

seorang lelaki dihormati kerana takut jahatnya,

arak biasa diminum,

Harap- harapnya dapatlah..insya allah…
